Annual Fire Safety Statements

If you own an existing industrial or commercial building, a multi-unit residential development, or public premises, you need to submit an Annual Fire Safety Statement.

The statement certifies the building or premises meet the standards for essential fire safety, including:

  • Sprinkler systems
  • Fire doors
  • Fire hose reels, hydrants, or portable fire extinguishers
  • Emergency lighting
  • Exit signs
  • Evacuation plans

The local council are the regulatory authority on this matter and can impose penalties if fire safety statements are not correct, so it’s essential to have the building assessed and statement written through a private certifier.
